Selecting a layer twice with the select tool causes the properties to disappear

• draw a rectangle
• click on it it with the select tool
• click on it it with the select tool again
• Properties disappear

This is because the layer is added twice to the selected nodes, so the properties panel thinks that two layers are selected.
