Tiers have always been fairly arbitrary, and a rough guide for what I'm trying to do.

As release approaches, it'd be more useful to see what tools are required and the expected level of skill on a rating scale. Admittedly, the scale will be somewhat arbitrary, but here's what I've got in mind. All of these assume 3DP is a given.

  1. User has no mechanical skill. This is where Ikea starts.

  2. Has experience drilling holes with a power drill, buying their own nails and screws for a project. Can successfully mount a large heavy mirror on the wall 90% of the time.

  3. User has moderate to extensive experience with DIY projects. Has probably run a table saw, bandsaw, jigsaw, drill press, and similar "shop tools". May have welding experience.

  4. User is has completed their own welding projects, nothing amazing, but functional and reasonably safe. May have plasma or TIG experience.

  5. User has done some manual milling, turning, or can make pretty much make 5. User has experience with CNC machines beyond printers. Router, plasma table, mill, lathe, etc.

As far as tools required, it'd be nice to have some Unlicensed SVGs of the tools in outline/silhouette as icons.

Now that I think about it, maybe each tool should have its own experience level...
