Ability for mod authors to post multiple files per mod version (and select primary as default for downloads) (e.g. different versions for different OS)

Mod authors will use this to cause mass confusion by labeling "backports" with the same version and expecting users to select the download corresponding to their KSP version. Then they will complain that CKAN doesn't support it.

Any suggestion how we could implement this as "offer the same mod version but you can do it as .deb,.msi,.zip,..."?
If ind the idea of "zip for "raw files/ckan", msi/exe for "Unasisteted" install a good idea.

Im also thinking about non KSP games where CKAN isnt a thing.

Maybe IF someone does implement this we should have it enable on a per game basis (and have it disabled for KSP atm).

Why not make it like in github: a release can have many different files associated. One would be primary.
This will allow adding optional content, variants, etc.
The point about CKAN not supporting it is solved by creating additional netkans; now to make variants on CKAN I have to point them to the same huge archive, then filter files locally. With this modders will be able to point to one of the release files.
