Easy way to create models

Currently, there is no easy way to create models. The only options are to use a 3D scanner or buy a model. One option is to have a stl library with common models and perhaps a tutorial about how to modify or create your models.

How about using collections like cgtrader.com and providing links to them? an internal collection can never reach such coverage

I think that could be a good initial point but in my experience most people will like to have open source / free models already available and tested within ili.
