• add MGRS coordinate format. Define in dictionary a geo location format. At first, the two possible choices should be lat/lon and MGRS (Add MGRS coordinate format #3042).
• Display location throughout the UI in the specified format (Add MGRS coordinate format #3042)
• In the location editor, make the geo location an editable field (Make it possible to have a location with a null geo position #2934)

• the current "drag-and-drop-only" way of placing a location is clumsy as it is very difficult to zoop out, find a new area, zoom in and place marker. When in edit mode, clicking on the map should do that. (implemented as part of Make it possible to have a location with a null geo position #2934 in Allow user to remove geoposition in location #2984)
• extend graphql queries with a geo query (as described in Epic 1705 - Improve GraphQL model #1705). Make map widget add this constraint to the queries it generates (Extend graphql queries with a geo query #3043)
• make report collection render items on map using a geo boundary and not pagination (Make report collection render items on map using a geo boundary #3044)
• add a locations "layer" to the map, displaying all locations (Add a locations layer to the map for displaying all locations #3045)
• experiment with https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-gl-js instead of leaflet

btw, a few leaflet plugins do deal with mgrs: https://github.com/PowerPan/leaflet.mouseCoordinate or https://github.com/trailbehind/leaflet-grids the second one being able to display the grids. Not sure how relevant/mature they are

We should create a geo location field widget.
It should be able to display/edit a geo location in one of the following formats:

• lon,lat
• MGRS (see https://github.com/proj4js/mgrs)
  anet.yml should specify which format should be used:

I authored this issue and the original requirement was to add MGRS to ANET. This has been completed. This issue can be closed from my side.

However, Vassil added other requirements to this issue. So this issue should be closed by one of you.
