I kept hitting this nasty error: Command failed: convert.exe: UnableToConvertStringToARGV which locked up my PC for a LONG time. I have GraphicsMagic and ImageMagick (Q8 64 versions) installed and I'm running Win7. When I wasn't specifying ImageMagick with gm.subClass({ imageMagick: true }) it worked great. I discovered thumbnail works great with ImageMagick so I'm using that. If thumbnail is specifically for ImageMagick then it should be added to the docs.

Maybe your imageMagick environment problem?
