View/set preconditioning time

Hi, Since I don't have a regular daily schedule, I wanted to set an automation that would turn off preconditioning once the time has been reached (within 30 minutes since the desired time) and the drive status was changed to 'Drive'. Too many times I forgot to turn it off and the car was preconditioned the next morning for nothing.

I know those data are all available as I use/set them in my Garmin watch app.

But are missing in this integration. I'm not familiar enough with the HomeAssistant code base to do it myself. Somebody want to give it a go?

Anybody wants to give it a go to allow us to set scheduled departure through this Integration?

This can be accomplished today trough the custom api service call. See this Wiki entry.

I have been thinking about adding dedicated service calls to make these commands a little more user friendly. But that implementation would look almost identical to the Wiki entry. Right now I don't think that feature is worth it. I could be convinced though.

Okay, looks like you know your way around HA using templates and everything. Can you do me a favor and look into the teslajsonpy logs?

In the HA configuration.yaml add teslajsonpy to the logger:

Restart HA. Go to System Logs, then "Load Full Logs". There should be a big json with the full api response. Looks something like this:

I'm looking for one key in that json, I recommend using Control+F to find it in the webpage. "scheduled_charging_mode":"Off"

That key should say "DepartBy" when a departure is scheduled, or "StartAt" for scheduled charging, or "Off" when both are disabled. That is they key the binary sensors are based off.

When you have a departure scheduled, can you let me know what that key says?

The scheduled departure was set at 8pm (20h) and that's what the app shows too:

One note here, the Departure Time is in minutes after midnight. So you would want to take (Departure time / 60) + midnight to find the time of departure. They offer a timestamp in the api, I'll pass that through too eventually.

From my work with the API on other projects, scheduled departure is confirmed on when "preconditioning_enabled" is set to true as can be seen here. First line is with it at off and second line is with it at on for 4pm

That helps a lot, thanks. Seems to be a bug in the Tesla API but we can work around it. I think that, when a charger is plugged into the car, the scheduled_charging_mode shows "Off" even when a departure is scheduled.

When I was first testing scheduled_charging_mode showed "DepartBy" but I did not have a charger plugged into my car. I will change the state of the binary sensor to look at preconditioning_enabled or off_peak_charging_enabled to determine the binary state.
