CustomEditText - Solution Code

Demonstrates how to make a custom text editing view that includes an X (Clear) button for clearing the entered text.

Introduction

The app includes a custom EditText view with an X (Clear) button on the right side of the EditText. The user can tap X to clear the text. The app uses a custom view that extends android.support.v7.widget.AppCompatEditText.

Pre-requisites

You need to know how to:

  • Open, build, and run apps with Android Studio.
  • Create an EditText view in an XML layout with attributes.
  • Use touch, text, and click listeners in your code.

Getting Started

  1. Download the code.
  2. Open the code in Android Studio.
  3. Run the app.
