I am thinking I would like to do a blog article at the nexus of computing and cycling...how much of a role computing technology plays in cycling...

  • FEA to optimize carbon frame designs
  • Flow simulations in virtual wind tunnel testing to optimize aero components
  • cycling computers to track speed, heart rate, power, gradient, distance, gps location
  • networking, cloud tools and edge computing to provide television coverage of major events like the Tour de France
  • human performance testing, tracking, training, tuning, analysis
  • virtual cycling environments like zwift, rouvy, fulgaz, ...
  • history of application of computing to "go faster" (it goes back to the 1970s)

An interesting person to interview for this would be T. J. Tollakson.

I'm not in favor of this as a BSSw topic. I don't deny that computing plays a big role in modern cycling. But then that's probably true of nearly any product these days. I don't see any of the topics suggested really talking about or giving insight on software development practices or experiences.

I think tend to agree with David
