It should be nice if it was possible to redirect the messages printed in the console by Symphony.
I am currently working on an interface between Symphony and Scilab (http://www.scilab.org) and I would like to redirect the messages to the scilab console.

GLPK, LPSOLVE (C libraries) and CLP (C++ one) have such a callback.
