Idea 1 - A Kettle Boiler, a modeled block with the appearance of a tea kettle, To use, place it on top of a furnace that has fuel and right-click with a bucket of water to fill it up, If there's fuel in the furnace already and water in the kettle, the furnace will light up. Then you can right-click the knob on the spout to release steam. (And some form of "pipe" to go along with this.

Idea 2 - For the next idea involves adding a liquid inventory of 8 buckets to furnaces, and a texture for the top being a "hole", when smelting something and having water in the "tank" and being no tube on top, some white particle effects appear over the hole and up to 3 blocks into the air, if any mobs and the Player touches this "steam" they get 2 hearts of damage every second. Note, a "tube" must be be attached to the hole in this case, in the other, a tube must connected to the spout of the "kettle". Both achieve the same purpose. Here are some textures of the modified furnace: - A Furnace with a display for water, Each pixel being a bucket of water. - The top of a furnace that has water and is on. (You could see this if you turn particles to minimal and if you were in creative mode. - The top of a unlit furnace.
