I recently found that no automatic game recording by clicking "YES" of "Record Game", when I started to play singleplayer mode of Q3TA. It's very odd that this is totally functional on "Tournament" mode, but not on the rest team-based modes, such as "capture the flag".
In order to record games e.g. capture the flag, I have to get into the game, open the command console then type "/record" to achieve it. I use the vulkan mode, BTW.

I wasn't aware there is a menu option anywhere to record demos. Could you post screenshot of the menu and is it a stock menu or custom menu ?

Also what does the console say when you hit the button

This should be handled by gamecode (mod), I see nothing that engine can help with

That's the issue, after I finished game, I didn't see any messages from the console.
BTW, I recognised this problem because the name of the demos recording by this way should be the name of the correspond map name.

As you can see from my screenshot, the yellow circle marks the recorded files through above-mentioned theory; the green circle represents the way you manually type "/record" from the console. They appear to be named by different way.

As I mentioned above, the theory of recording a demo from "Record Game" only works on tournament mode, not the rest team-based modes.

But it used to be functional on every game mode in Singleplayer of Q3TA, this is bizarre.

You wouldn't see any message at the end of the game, recording would be during startup or first join.

Record command by itself is why the demos are time/date based. Mapname is inserted when the gamecode adds it to the command buffer when you push the menu entry.
