buggy / non functioning search on isolated builds

Describe the bug

Assume this just hasn't been implemented yet, but opening the search bar via a click or cmd+k results in the search modal popping up and disappearing, and then the search bar disappearing

This was fixed with in #1683

And should behave better on the next deploy
