It would be great if Flux could find outdated/deprecated charts and then notify us (like nova). Could this feature be within the scope of Flux?

Flux already has features for upgrading to newer helm charts:

For OCI helm charts:

For old HTTP helm repositories:

If I correctly understand, this features allow installing a chart version matching a semver. I don't believe that the chart versions are automatically upgraded, and this is not my goal. What I would like is to get notified when a new version of a chart is available (in an OCI repo for example).

If I correctly understand, this features allow installing a chart version matching a semver. I don't believe that the chart versions are automatically upgraded, and this is not my goal.

The semvers can be a range, don't need to be a fixed semver e.g. 1.2.x, 1.x, x. So this effectivelly upgrades automatically.

What I would like is to get notified when a new version of a chart is available (in an OCI repo for example).

Then you can use this: https://fluxcd.io/flux/guides/image-update/

With this you can get an automated PR bumping the new version of the chart, is there any better notification than that? Then you can merge it or not, but at least you got notified
