We downloaded scratch jr to some of the computers in our school, at first they all work well.
But after around 3 months, some of them started to have problems, such as "can't autosave","can't edit the characters","software stuck". And even reinstall won't help. But, if install to a new computer, it works fine.
So I started to think, maybe it's because it stored the data somewhere, and when the data accumulates(like we do,cause we use it too much in classes),it collapse. But I couldn't find where it store all the data.
After searching and searching, I noticed this on the page:
Reloading saved projects
...........

According to this tip,we can create a restore file,to restore the software to how we like it to be. Which means, maybe it'll delete all the data it doesn't need. And it worked!

So here is how:

  1. Install scratchjr on a computer that has never installed before
  2. go to \documents ,find \scratchjr, find "scratchjr.sqllite" file, make a copy of it,change the copy name to "scratchjr.sqllite.restore".
3.copy "scratchjr.sqllite.restore" which you just made, put it in a flash disk or anything.
  3. Put the file in the old computer, same place in \documents
  4. Open scratchjr, you will find a menu option "restore" for restoring the projects,on the top left corner.
Click it, and you'll get a brand new scratchjr that works!!

To us it's really a good method, cause we don't need the old files in the classroom computers. You can try it if you are bothered by the same problem. But if you have important files, you might want to seek another solution.

Thank you for reading!
I hope this helps !
