freac-1.0.32-bin

fre:ac version 1.0.32

fre:ac is a free and open source audio converter for various formats.
It supports audio CD ripping and converts the following audio formats:

	- MP3
		- using the LAME MP3 encoder (http://lame.sourceforge.net/)
		- using the mpg123 decoder (http://www.mpg123.org/)

	- MP4/M4A AAC
		- using the FAAC/FAAD2 codec (http://www.audiocoding.com/)

	- Xiph Foundation codecs
		- Vorbis (http://www.vorbis.com/)
		- FLAC (http://flac.sourceforge.net/)

	- Windows Media Audio (http://www.microsoft.com/)
	- Windows Wave Files (http://www.microsoft.com/)

	- various other formats
		- Bonk Audio (http://www.logarithmic.net/pfh/bonk/)

		- Apple AIFF (decoding only) (http://www.apple.com/)
		- Creative Voice (decoding only) (http://www.creative.com/)
		- Sun Au (decoding only) (http://www.oracle.com/)

		- TwinVQ VQF (with plugin, encoding only)	(http://www.ntt.co.jp/)

fre:ac uses the CDRip Ripping Library for audio ripping.

Code from FAAD2 is copyright (c) Nero AG, www.nero.com

Installation
------------

fre:ac is distributed in two variants, an .exe file containing a setup wizard or alternatively
a .zip file that contains just the application without an installer.

If you downloaded the .exe installer, simply run it and the setup wizard will guide you through
the installation process creating start menu icons that will run fre:ac.

If you downloaded the .zip package, please extract/move the contents to a location of your
choice and run freac.exe to start fre:ac.

Requirements
------------

	Requirements for running fre:ac:

		Supported operating systems:
			- Windows XP/Vista/7/8.x/10 (older Windows version might work with some limitations)

		Minimum hardware requirements:
			- Intel Pentium III or AMD Athlon XP CPU
			- 256 MB RAM
			- 50 MB free disk space

		Recommended hardware specs:
			- Intel Core i3 or AMD Phenom II CPU
			- 1 GB RAM
			- 1 GB free disk space

Additional requirements for compiling the sources:

		- MinGW GCC v4.0+ (http://www.mingw.org/) or Microsoft Visual Studio 2015
		- smooth v0.8.71.8 (http://www.smooth-project.org/)

	Additional optional software:

		- TwinVQ is used if installed
		- Winamp plug-ins can be used if they are present in the 'plugins' directory

Known problems
--------------

	- There are the following restrictions on the input file format:

		- BladeEnc:
				- audio must be at 32, 44.1 or 48 kHz
		- FAAC:
				- audio must be at 8, 11.025, 12, 16, 22.05, 24, 32, 44.1, 48, 64, 88.2 or 96 kHz
		- FLAC:
				- the FLAC reference encoder is limited to a maximum sample resolution of 24 bit
		- TwinVQ:
				- audio must be at 22.05 kHz (24 and 32 kBit) or 44.1 kHz (48 kBit)

	- Resampling is only supported with LAME. Input files must be at the desired output
sampling rate unless you are encoding with LAME.

	- fre:ac is currently limited to a maximum of 2 audio channels
