Add the ability to disable protocols

It might be handy and worthwhile to provide the ability to easily disable certain protocols.

Some ideas could be:

• via a global dictionary within the main script
  • with logic where if a protocol is not set in that dictionary it is enabled (fail open?)
• via external config file
  • meanwhile having defaults of all protocols enabled should there be no config file

For example, allow easily disabling SNMP without commenting out the code block.
That ability would incorporate a fix for this fork.
