Problem
Normal text-based emotes like ":)" automatically becomes a representative emoji from the Twemoji library. While I can understand the mindset for this amount of playfulness—it just doesn't fit every company the same.

Solution

  • Add on/off toggle for automatic text -> Twemoji conversion
  • Add option for the use of Twemoji or system native emoticons.

Additional context
@reichert621 told me via live chat that it "should be easy to disable!" for users running a self-hosted version of Papercups, but I could very much see this being a wished-for feature for some customers running their live chat from the provided hosting solution by Papercups.

hey @xenforq! just curious, is this specifically for the chat widget, or would you like this in the admin dashboard as well?

I thought it would be a toggleable option in the admin dashboard solely.
