Description

Project to be claimed

cyberdrop-dl: https://pypi.org/project/cyberdrop-dl

Your PyPI username

Script-Ware: https://pypi.org/user/Script-Ware

Reasons for the request

The original cyberdrop-dl repository and package have been abandoned for a little over a year. The GitHub was archived on July 5th, 2024, and the last release on PyPI was June 23rd, 2024.

Before abandonment, the developer said he was going to be retiring from the project and community and asked if anybody would be willing to take over. I did not end up messaging at that point.

Shortly after, he deleted his Discord account and archived the repository.

I have taken over development of the original project and have been maintaining it for a little over a year with the help of some others who have joined over time. Using the name cyberdrop-dl-patched is okay but we would prefer to just use the original project name. There are many links to it online now that lead to a half-broken project and I want continue the legacy properly.

The circumstances of everything are very unfortunate. I took over development too late to be able to reach the owner as he deleted his Discord and left no way to contact him. It appears that the email linked to the original PyPi has been abandoned as attempts to reach him through that have been unsuccessful.

Contact and additional research

I sent two emails to the owner of the project with no reply: ImageImage

In the original discord server, that can be found on both the original and updated pypi pages, messages from the original developer and from the user who was entrusted with managing the server can be found that verify the developer intended for someone to continue his work.

Of course I understand that Discord messages aren't a great way to verify the original owner's intentions, but I hope that the server being the same helps. If you need anything additional, please let me know.
