Reasons for the request

The current maintainer is a former employee of Waymo and no longer has access to the email address associated with their PyPI account. Furthermore, they did not retain other essential account recovery credentials, such as recovery codes. This situation prevents them from logging in, resetting their password, or using any other standard account recovery methods. As a result, the PyPI package's maintainership is effectively unmanageable by the rightful owner (Waymo), despite the project itself being actively maintained.

Contact and additional research

We've been in direct contact with the former employee who is the current sole owner/maintainer of the waymo-open-dataset package. They're aware of this request and fully support transferring ownership to the "Waymo Research" PyPI Organization. They've also confirmed their identity and consent for this transfer directly to PyPI support in a prior email exchange (we can provide support details privately if needed), and have explicitly stated their inability to complete any mode of account recovery due to not having the necessary credentials.
