About the project
This project is an XLA (ML compiler) based backend for PyTorch. It has been on PyPI for ~2 years. The current wheels are ~96MB, but the 2.8.0 release has increased to 106MB.
Reasons for the request
The largest contributor to the size of the binary is the bundled XLA so, many things in the Jax/TF ecosystem depend on XLA as well. I expect any growth in the size of these binaries to follow a similar trajectory to those. We have no plans for dramatic increases in the binary size, like taking on new large binary dependencies.
