rtlsdr blog v3 device is not recognized

Hi,

I have a rtlsdr blog v3 Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0bda:2838 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL2838 DVB-T
Running dump1090_rs errors out with:

[-] using soapysdr driver_args: driver=rtlsdr
[ERROR] rtlsdr_get_device_usb_strings(0) failed
[!] soapysdr error: Other: No RTL-SDR devices found!

I couldn't find any documentation on device_string for what needs to be provided in --driver-extra for it to detect the correct device. Any docs or pointers are greatly appreciated.

For some reason, disconnecting, rebooting and connecting, then rebooting seems to work.
No rhyme or reason :/
