Installation instructions do not work on a Debian VM

I posted this over at Coursier ("Installation fails on a Debian 12 VM"): coursier/coursier#3405

but perhaps it should be addressed by the scala-lang website instead. The instructions for installing Scala fail on a Debian 12 VM, with the following message:

The current machine does not support all of the following CPU features that are required by the image: [CX8, CMOV, FXSR, MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4_1, SSE4_2, POPCNT, LZCNT, AVX, AVX2, BMI1, BMI2, FMA].
Please rebuild the executable with an appropriate setting of the -march option.

I think some alternative installation methods should be added.

hmm so we should include instructions for the java-based launcher i guess
