If I already have an IDE open, when I'm browsing or navigating, I don't want to open a web-browser to view rich in-repo references and definitions. I'd rather as much as possible stay within my IDE.

What? No. If I use the VSCode extension I want the results to be opened in VSCode. I don't like using your website. The same could be said that you should open all results from github on github, but I came to this repo because I'm specifically addressing the VSCode extension.
Got it, sorry for the misunderstanding. Are you using the VS Code extension on a repository for which you do not have local language support? And you would like Sourcegraph to provide the data for VS Code to display in its own references view, for example?
