Support for Azure OpenAI Assistants API

Hi everyone,

Spring AI doesn't support the Azure OpenAI Assistants API (nor does it support the OpenAI one).
OpenAI announced that the Assistants API will be deprecated in 2026 in favor of Responses API.
However, it seems that Azure didn't announce any deprecation plan for their API and yet, they don't provide the Responses API.

Is there any plan to support Azure OpenAI Assistants API ?

The benefit would be :

• Assistant, Threads, and Messages management
• File processing
• Tools integration

This issue may be outdated as soon as Microsoft Azure announces support for Responses API (that would be even better).

@Amine-Kadi Thanks for reporting the issue.

Given the Assistants API is a potential target for deprecation, it would be better to align with Responses API for Azure OpenAI when we add Responses API support for OpenAI.

Hence, closing this issue for now.
