Video still getting loaded in audio only mode

I've noticed that the video is still getting loaded even though it is set to audio only mode. Is it possible to disable video loading all together? or this is impossible given the video must load for the audio to load for those with video.
Edit: what I meant is the video is still getting loaded(as in downloaded and cached) in the background even though we cannot see the video
This can be proven by starting a song with the button toggled to song, then opening stats for nerds, switching between video and song mode wouldn't increase the network activity, and there is also no buffering/loading when switching from song to video, which mean the video is still getting cached even though it is in song mode. Therefore data is still getting consumed for loading the video
