Describe the solution you'd like

It would be nice if there was some more flexibility around selecting and editing dates.

My specific use case is adding letters between my grandparents from the 1940s during the war. The current date picker makes it difficult/tedious to set dates that far back in the past.

I haven’t even studied the source enough to know which library is being used for the date picker at this point. This may be something I’m willing to take on myself if there is interest.

Oh, I think someone's already made improvements in the main branch!
