WalletConnect connectivity issue: Uncaught (in promise) Error: WebSocket connection failed for the host: wss://relay.walletconnect.org

I am working with the Wagmi package: 1.4.2. I am working from India. When I try to connect to the wallet connect modal, it works properly for me and doesn't give me any error. But when people from Nigeria try to access the same app, it causes connectivity issues for them. The error being faced is Uncaught (in promise) Error: WebSocket connection failed for the host: wss://relay.walletconnect.org

Also, the wallet connect modal just doesn't open for them. So I wanted to ask the following questions:

1. Can it be due to the reason that the project ID that we are using, we haven't verified the domain of our app?
2. Should I upgrade to the higher version of Wagmi and then this would be resolved?
3. What else should I try?
