i have an init.el under .emacs.d and folder disp host the plugin. I also followed your instruction and had npm installed. But when I tried to turn on region and M-x web-beautify-js it, it gave me-

• Symbol's function definition is void: use-region-p

I'm running emacs 22 on mac osx. Please advise.

Sorry for the very very delayed response. It seems like use-region-p is added in emacs 23. A preinstalled emacs on OS X is very old. The current stable emacs version is 24.5. I recommend you to install latest emacs using Homebrew.
