When people want to show off code to each other they can put it on GitHub
version control, where you can make changes to the code and keep track of the history of all changes made.
It allows people to work different parts of a project at the same time with the changes being added on separately.
It allows people from different locations to collaborate on the same project at the same time by having a centralised repository to which they can push changes, but each individual can also have a full copy of the repository.
