Murder At Supper

Welcome to the official GitHub repository for
Murder at Supper by Epic Epic Games!

Overview

Hello and welcome to the official repository for Murder at Supper. This repository was created on Oct 10, 2024. Please use the navigational bar below to guide your reading experience.

Navigation

NAVIGATION is under construction. -- Nikki, 1/14/25

Answer the following questions at your own pace to jump to specific sections in the README. When you are done, look for the hyperlink on the bottom right of that section that says "(back to navigation)".

For an unguided reading experience, feel free to jump straight into the 02 Docs > 01 Information folder.

More questions will be added as needed to the README's Navigation as needed. -- Nikki, 1/14/25

For Programmers

Greetings to my fellow programmers! If you've never used GitHub before, you're definitely going to want to check out the Guide to Getting Started in this repository.

The relevant sections you'll want to check out are written there as well, with a guide.

A few tips...

  • Please be sure to sync your work here often!
  • Make sure to branch out (literally) when working on different elements of the project.
  • Be descriptive in your commits and pull requests.

For Writers

Hello my wonderful and creative writers! You may not be using this repository as much as the programmers. However, since we are integrating the dialogue into YarnSpinner, we will need your help when it comes to indicating event changes in the storyline. Read more in the Writing & Events article.

If you've never used GitHub before, be sure to check out the Guide to Getting Started in this repository.

Unlike programmers, you won't have to read as many sections, but there are still important notes and tips for anytime you interact with the repository.

A few tips...

  • Please be sure to sync your work here often!
  • If you plan on editing YarnSpinner scripts directly, please make a branch (literally) of the latest stable version.
  • Be descriptive in your commits, especially if there are dialogue changes in a scene.

For Artists/Designers

Hello my amazing and talented artists and designers! Of all people, you guys will liekly be using this repository the least. However! You still play a very pivotal role in the success of this game.

For the most part, you will be submitting your art to the repository's main 01 Assets folder. However, I still strongly encourage you to check out the Guide to Getting Started.

Several important topics are covered in there, including how to commit, how to maintain the integrity of the project, and more.

Unlike programmers, you won't have to read as many sections, but there are still important notes and tips for anytime you interact with the repository.

A few tips...

  • When sharing assets, be descriptive in the comments!
  • Maintain healthy semantics when naming and organizing images.
  • Please, do NOT upload assets directly to the 00 Unity Proj folder unless you are directly editing the project on your computer. Upload them to the 01 Assets folder at the root of the repository.

For Visitors

Hello and warm welcome to the official repository for Murder at Supper by Epic Epic Games! Whether you intended to land here, or you're just an internet drifter who fell down a rabbit hole of links, rest assured that we are so happy to have you.

I'm Nikki, I'm one of the Lead Developers for the game. More importantly, I used my passion for GitHub to assume the role of a Project Manager, too. I prioritize detailed descriptions in everything from commits to pull requests to markdown files, like the one you're reading now.

If you're curious to know how this repository operates, you'll definitely want to check out the Guide to Getting Started.

Unlike programmers, you won't have to read as many sections, but there are still important notes and tips for anytime you interact with the repository.

A few tips...

  • There are quite a few branches on this repository. Be sure to check out each one for the full effect.
  • You'll also want to check out pull requests, since those contain full-fledged descriptions from every stage of the project.
  • If you like this, please share the love and give us a Star! Thank you!
