Hello all, my name is Ruth and I am a native Californian that's been living in São Paulo Brazil since 2013. Although the majority of my work experience was dedicated to the education/non-profit realm in places like Timor Leste, Bósnia and Herezegovina, Dominican Repúblic, Central America, Africa, etc, in 2021 I changed course. During the covid pandemic I was laid off from the bilingual school where I was teaching. This was a very difficult time for me since around the same time my son was diagnosed with autism and I needed to find a means to get the therapies he needed as quickly as possible. Facing dwindling opportunties in the education realm, I spoke with some friends that were working and tech and decided to make the jump. I completed a bootcamp in fullstack development and UX/UI and one week afer completing the fullstack training I was offered a job on linked in with Robert Half as a Technical Support Specialist with PayPal. The first position was temporary but with a little work, I managed to get a permanent contract as Technical Support Engineer with PayPal, where I currently work. In my free time I enjoy training Capoeira (an Afro Brazilian Martial Art), running at the beach, and spending time with my 6 year old twins.
