Slice IT!: A game that combines logic, precision, and quick reflexes in a dynamic and engaging slicing challenge..
A project for people of all ages by team Slice IT!
The objective of the workshop is to teach participants the concept of boolean logic through Unity, providing a hands-on foundation in game development and logical problem-solving.
This workshop has participants follow along with a hands-on level building tutorial, where they build a simple scene and learn how to use Unity's tools and C# scripting to bring their level to fruition.
- Difficulty Level: Hard
- Target Audience: K12 - College
- Duration of Workshop: 60 Minutes
- Needed Materials: Unity Hub and Unity Game Engine
- Learning Outcomes: This project aims to create engaging hands-on learning activities using the Unity game engine to demonstrate STEM concepts and logical expressions. Through various outreach activities, this project works toward attracting more students to enroll in the IT field as their future career.
- Your Main Technology Unity a game engine, that is a powerful yet simple tool for game creation.
- Technology Ambassador Program (TAP) is a project-based class that provides a collaborative environment for students to work with their fellow classmates on a semester-long project using technologies of their choice. TAP strives to increase participation in IT through numerous outreach activities and workshops that are designed to showcase the creative and fun side of technology.

Participants begin the workshop by playing Slice IT!, a fast-paced game where players slice objects that match a given boolean statement while avoiding incorrect objects and hazards. The game highlights logic-based gameplay, quick reflexes, and dynamic challenges, showcasing Unity’s capabilities through engaging mechanics, vibrant visuals, and interactive design. This initial experience introduces participants to the elements of a polished game, such as logic-driven mechanics, physics-based interactions, and user feedback. After playing, participants transition into creating their own level within Unity. This hands-on activity guides them through foundational Unity concepts, such as scene setup, scripting boolean logic, and integrating assets, providing a practical introduction to game development.
