I wanted to integrate some good bits from another dotfiles project, olivier-o/dotfiles, but at the same time cut down on the number of bundles installed by that one.
I still have a limited knowledge of vim plugins, so this package might not be what you are after. I'm adding to this all the time, so please feel free to fork if you like the base.
- Non-minimalistic, but want less spaghetti when in .vimrc.
- A nice looking, portable (Linux, OSX) vim that has useful functionality.
- Understand how to use all the plugins I have installed, rather than adding to an existing pile.
- Automatically initializes the gmarik/vundle submodule, installs bundles.
- Integrated good bits from olivier-o/dotfiles - thanks Olivier for introducing me to dotfiles -- status line improvements + powerline
Run the following commands in your terminal. It will prompt you before it does anything destructive. Check out the Rakefile to see exactly what it does.
git clone git://github.com/dwerner/dotfiles ~/.dotfiles
cd ~/.dotfiles
rake install
After installing, open a new terminal window to see the effects.
Feel free to customize the .zshrc file to match your preference.
To remove the dotfile configs, run the following commands. Be certain to double check the contents of the files before removing so you don't lose custom settings.
unlink ~/.bin
unlink ~/.gitignore
unlink ~/.gemrc
unlink ~/.gvimrc
unlink ~/.irbrc
unlink ~/.vim
unlink ~/.vimrc
rm ~/.zshrc # careful here
rm ~/.gitconfig
rm -rf ~/.dotfiles
rm -rf ~/.oh-my-zsh
chsh -s /bin/bash # change back to Bash if you want
Then open a new terminal window to see the effects.
