purged (ghost) datasets

While populating a Data Library folder from items in history, datasets that were already purged from history are listed and available for addition to the data library. Not realizing that they were already purged, I added them to the Data Library wherein they looked like other datasets. They were also importable from the Data Library but upon import they directly appeared to be deleted. However, we could "Undelete" them, after which they looked normal, and the snapshot for them that looked right. So we started a couple of jobs with them that did not run, they stayed queued without giving us an error.

We were able to isolate the issue because when we tried to view the dataset, it was not viewable and gave us an error. So we managed to get our jobs to run finally, but I wanted to post this here to save someone else the trouble.
