Repository for the workshop "Why and How to Use Large Language Models in Your Research" taught by Research Computing and Data Services as part of CoDEx 2025.

Before the workshop

We encourage you to create a free Hugging Face account for the workshop. Steps:

1. Go to the join page.
2. Enter your email address and create a password.
3. Complete your profile (only mandatory fields: username and full name), agree with the terms of service and code of conduct, and click on create account.

While creating a Hugging Face account is optional, it'll allow you to get some hands-on experience during the workshop!

During the workshop

If you're stuck during the hands-on exercises, we have a document with some sentences to try running the models and some models with Inference API Widgets that you can use. Before going to that document, though, we encourage you to try on your own!
