NircadaOS is a lightweight Linux distribution that transforms a small computer into a full blown arcade emulation console.
This project is a fork of https://github.com/libretro/Lakka-LibreELEC version 3.x
The size of the boot partition was increased to 2 GB, which is not compatible with previous installations.
Highlights of this release include:
- Operating system based on LibreELEC 9.2 build system
- Vulkan API enabled for AMD and Intel GPUs (Generic) and for Raspberry Pi 4
- Support for joycons
- RetroArch updated to 1.9.13.2
- Linux 5.10.78
- Mesa 21.2.5

The image (*.img.gz
) is specific to the target hardware, as its name should reflect it. Choose one of the following images depending on your Hardware architecture.
- Generic.x86_64 : For 64 bit PC architecture.
- Generic.i386 : For 32 bit PC architecture.
Please note that due to the wide variety of PC hardware, NircadaOS may not work on your hardware.
Those image are USB images, not CD or DVD images, those installation mediums are unsupported. Also, we don't support virtualization and dualboot. NircadaOS is meant to be installed on real hardware.
