Running
I've run a trail race, and off and on for years. I've never really loved it, though enjoyed the cardio exercise and the mental clarity after runs. Recently I injured my bicep during climbing (overuse) and I've had to stop my primary form of exercise that I push myself on. I decided to take up running again, now that my left knee is finally starting to get back to normal after an inattentive driver hit me two years ago. Per my sports medicine doctor's recommendation, she said not to run over 2 miles. This sort of changed everything; at first it was very hard, but then it got a lot easier. Previously, I would run 5-6 miles and ultimately push myself too hard, and then not want to run again for 2-3 weeks. It was a terrible schedule, and I never loved running. With the constraint to only run 2 miles, I began running much more often (4-5 times per week) and got addicted. Now I'm slowly stepping up the mileage.

5 Running Blunders That Keep You Locked in the Injury Cycle. I could get this quote tattooed on my arm:
Good runners think long-term and put in the work month after month. They don’t care that they’re not ready to race this weekend – they’re more interested in building the fitness they need six months from now.
